NEWS & PRAYER
prayer for derby
Our mighty and gracious God, we come to you this day in the strong name of the Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit to pray for the City of Derby.
We ask you Lord, to bless this place and to come upon your Church in Revival power. Help us to fight for the poor, the isolated and the rejected in your Holy name.
We pray this day for Marriages that they may be strong and whole, full of love, forgiveness and patience. We pray for the well-being and protection of family life.
We pray for all children that they might come to know you, for their well-being and flourishing in every way. We pray for their protection from evil and all that would oppress them.
We pray for all education establishments and ask that education may be holistic and a good preparation for adult life.
We pray for the physical and spiritual health of the City. May we know your healing through your creation as well as through your healing power.
We pray that healing would flow where there is strife between races or peoples.
We pray that the stranger and those from other nations may find Derby a place of flourishing, healing and welcome.
We pray for the elderly that none would be lonely, isolated, or in poverty.
We pray for justice in our courts, and for our Police force. May they both be instruments of peace and order.
We pray for the City council, charities and public services that they might serve the common good of this City and not their own ends.
We pray for business of every type, may it flourish, prosper and act for the common good of both worker and owners.
We pray for your Church, its leaders, its unity and commitment to your mission. May it be one as you are one, may it serve and follow you in your mission. May it live to worship pray and magnify your Holy Name; Father Son and Holy Spirit.
May your church proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom, teaching, baptising and nurturing new believers.
May it respond to human need by loving service, seeking to transform the unjust structures in our society.
May we strive to safeguard the integrity of your creation and sustain its life as responsible stewards.
We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
